• Retrolental fibroplasia and blindness in prematures if exposed to↑o2
• ARDs in adult
So, Do not use O2 therapy except in indicated situations.
• High concentrations e.g. 60% via a mask used in acute Type I respiratory failure.
• Low concentrations either via a 24 or 28% ventimask in Type II respiratory failure.
• Chronic O2 delivery from cylinders delivered to the home via mask or nasal cannuli.
