Myofen capsules therapeutic action:
Muscle relaxant, analgesic & NSAID
Myofen capsules indications:
Pain and cramping of skeletal muscles in cases of sprains and dislocations, muscle aches, stiff neck, tension headaches, traumatic muscle injury, back pain, Spondyloarthritis cervical syndrome.
Myofen capsules pharmacological properties:
Pharmacological Action: Chlorzoxazone is a centrally acting muscle relaxant. Its major site of action is the spinal cord and subcortical areas of the brain to inhibit mechanisms responsible for excessive muscle tone. lboprofen is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory agent. For patients who have shown gastrointestinal side effects with aspirin, ibuprofen showed better tolerance. but should be controlled carefully.
Pharmacokinetics: Chlorzoxazone is complelely absorbed after oral administration. It is metabolized in the liver, Its half life is 1.1 hour and eIiminalion is predominantly via the kidney. Ibuprofen is rapidly absorbed after oral administration. The peak plasma levels are reached 1 to 2 hours after dosing and the concentrations do not change with tasting. Meals may slightly decrease the bioavailability of ibuprofen when given immediately after meals. Antacids do not alter the absorption of ibuprolen. The half-life of buprofen is 1.8 to 2.0 hours, it is rapidly metabolized and excreted in urine (1% as unchanged ibuprofen and 14% as conjugated ibuprofen).
Myofen capsules dosage:
1 to 2 capsules three times daily.
Myofen capsules contra-indications:
Hypersenstivity to any of the components of the product In patients With a history of Hypersenstivity reactions (bronchospasm).
Myofen capsules precautions:
It is recommended not to administer ibuprofen to patients with asthma or nasal polyposis syndrome. Although its antiplatelet effect is smaller than that of aspirin, It should be used with caution in patients with clotting abnormalities or under anticoagulation therapy.
Myofen capsules and pregnancy:
The effect of it during pregnancy has not been adequately studied. This drug is secreted in breast milk and could affect a nursing infant. It should be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding only under medical supervision. Pregnancy category:C
Myofen Capsules drug interactions:
Oral anticoagulants and heparin may increase the risk of bleeding. It contains chlorzoxazone therefore it should not be administered with alcohol, antidepressants antihistamines, narcotics, or sedatives as it may enhance the depressant effects of these drugs.
Myofen capsules side effects :
The most common are gastrointeslinal: Nausea, epigastric pain, heartburn, diarrhea, vomiting, indigestion and flatulence. Rare: peptic ulcer, intestinal bleeding, gastritis,
jaundice and abnormal liver function tests.
Storage:
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C Keep out of reach of children.
