It is a contagious disease affect lymphatics of the skin caused by haemolytic streptococci.
m Incubation period: short hours.
Clinical picture:
General: features of toxaemia and septicaemia as the organism invade the circulation.
Local: The affected part usually is the face, scalp, leg and scrotum.
It gives irregular red patch with well defined raised margin and vesicle formation
Suppuration is very rare and if occurred the condition is called cellulo erysipelas.
Recurrent cases may obstruct the lymphatics ch. Lymphoedema .
Treatment :
Isolation of the patient with complete rest .
Antibiotics. Peniclline & Garamycine.
Lead subacetate lotion soothing effect .
