Pathogenesis
1- Lack of pre-anaesthetic medication.
2- Irritant anaesthetics in presence of bronchitis.
3- Neglected suction during operation.
4- Inability to cough after surgery due to pain.
Symptoms

Sudden onset of Postoperative

Dyspnea Cough Wheeze
Signs
As above
Treatment
à Prophylactic à see above.
àActive treatment:
As above + postural drainage to remove the secretions
Q postoperative pulmonary Complication
¯ ¯ ¯ ¯ ¯
1 -Aspi ration 2-Aspiration 3- pulmonary embolism 4- Collapse 5-ARDS
Pneumonia lung abscess ¯
• ­­O2 (toxicity)
• sepsis
