m Medical Indications:
· Haemolytic jaundice.
· 1ry thrombocytopenic purpura.
· Hypersplenism “clinical not laboratory”.
· Lipid storage disease.
mSurgical Indications:
· Rupture spleen.
· Splenic abscess.
· Splenic cyst or tumour.
· Lymphoma: for treatment in splenic lymphoma or in staging laparotomy.
· Torsion in wandering spleen.
· Aneurysm of the splenic artery.
· Part of other operation: e.g. Shunt operation or Hassab’s operation or during gastric resection for malignancy.
