🛑 Notes on Prescription of Prisms👩👧👦
✍️ when prescribing prisms, the correction is split between the two eyes .
✍️ To correct convergence the prisms must be base-out (base-out Rt and Lt ).
✍️ To correct divergence the prisms must be base-in( base-in Rt and Lt ).
✍️ To correct vertical deviation the orientation of the prisms is opposite to each other for the two eyes ( base-down RE and base-up LE for R hypertropia).
✍️ remember always The apex of the prism must always be placed towards the direction of deviation of the eye.
✍️ above mentioned rules is for relieving prisms which aim to jump the image towards the deviated eye to overcome diplopia
✍️ the opposite is true for the exercising prism ( reverse prism ) to avoid the contructure of the strong direct antagonist in paralytic strabismus
