COLLOID GOITRE Pathology: · The gland shows symmetrical enlargement which may attain large size. The Follicles contains large amount of colloid and lined by flat cells. Clinical Picture: Usually female after pregnancy or lactation " if sporadic". Usually between 15: 30 ys. old in endemic areas. Symmetrical, smooth, soft but huge enlargement . Complication: 1- Tend to become toxic or nodular. 2- Pressure symptoms are uncommon inspite of the large size ( soft ).
