Dental implants are titanium implants that are placed in the jaws to support an artificial tooth, dental bridge or a denture. They are basically titanium posts inserted in the jaw to replicate the natural root of the tooth. The invention of dental implants and the subsequent popularity of dental implants have totally revolutionized the art and science of dentistry. Our ancestors had to resort to ingenious measures to replace a lost tooth, because the loss of teeth and the associated discomfort brought on by pain and inability to chew food can put the health of a person at serious risk. The dental implants procedure runs through several sessions in most cases. The first part is to actually put the base that connects to the jaw bone. Titanium parts are often used, and this is best because it is a strong metal. This will allow you to have the dental implants running for a lifetime



The next step is the making up of the tooth, as well as fitting it in. The good point about all this is that if you need the actual tooth implant replaced, it is an easier process, because you have the titanium base which acts like a root. All the dentist then needs to do is to make up another tooth implant and connect it to the titanium root.

Is it safe to have cleanings at a school dental hygiene not dental
school. I remember reading something about them being too aggressive
and not yet being able to feel the difference between the tooth and
tartar.

Would it be safer to have them do ultrasonic vs. manual. i.e. is


ultrasonic safer when done by hygienist students.

They mentioned that cleaning should be done every 3 months. Is this
true or a way for them to get more people on which to practice.

Do they need x-rays to do cleanings. They requested x-rays or want to
take them. Is this necessary?

Anything I should watch out for?

I had one quadrant done as they spent a lot of time doing the initial
intake and measuring pockets etc...

Is cleaning around crowns done differently in any way.

I have 2 crowns which are uncomfortable. Gums appear inflamed around
them. The hygienist used the term fibrotic
and thought I should floss the back teeth 2 x a day and use a tooth
brush with a very small head to gently brush around the gums at those 2
crowns.

Hi Chris123,

There is no problem whatsoever with using the Sonic Relief Ultrasound for treatment on a knee injury even if you have dental implants. Regarding the shoulder, I seriously doubt there is an issue here, but to stay on the side of caution it is something worth passing by your physician to ensure there would be no ill effects.
